Judith A. Guinn

Services to honor her memory will be held at Runge’s Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation will be held Monday, August 24th, from 4 to 7, and Tuesday, August 25th, from 9 to 10, with the funeral service following, at 10. Her final resting place will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church, Moline.

Judy was born on April 19th, 1939, in Grafton, North Dakota, the daughter of Charles and Manolia Berard. Judy moved to Davenport with her family at a young age. Her first job was at Woolworth’s Dime Store. She later went to work at Northwest Chiropractic Center where she worked for 35 years doing a job she loved with wonderful people.

Judy met the love of her life and beloved husband, Robert, “Bob”, Guinn, through her brother Ken. Judy said she fell in love with Bob because he was the kindest man she had ever met. Judy and Bob married on February 28, 1959, In Davenport at Saint Mark Lutheran Church. Bob and Judy had three children.

Judy found true happiness in being a wife, homemaker, and mother. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for her family. She and Bob had a life filled with joy and laughter. She would always tell any married couple that the secret to a long and happy marriage is to laugh together. Judy and Bob were always a team. They worked hard to make the best life for their family that they could provide. Judy always said there is nothing more important than family, and she lived by that rule.

Judy was known by all as a very special lady. She was known for her compassion, her strength, and her devotion. She found joy in the simple things in life: a good book, a beautiful day, and having her family near. She approached every day with a joyful spirit and a ready smile. She gave the best advice, which was always coming from a place of love, kindness, and listening.

From a young age, Judy suffered from many health issues. She had more health problems than any one person should ever have to face. Many people never knew this about her. When asked how she was, she always said she was doing great; however, the truth is that she suffered most days. She was resilient, strong, and determined to get better, all without complaint. She was an example to all as she handled her struggles with grace and courage.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Bob, of 67 years, her loving children: Cindy (Rick) McAninch, Bob (Marty) Guinn, and Julie (Tony) Steidl, all of Davenport, her grandchildren:, Jimmie Pecararro, Travis Guinn, Jessica Mortvedt, Felicia Haakenson, Josh McAninch, Ali Conklin, and Matt Purl, 16 great-grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her best friend of 78 years, Linda Boyd, and so many loving nieces, nephews, and friends who will deeply miss her.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Virginia France, Suzan Holmes, and her brother Ken Berard.
