Julie Hollingsworth

Born to Fred and Marsha (Baumgardner) Hollingsworth, Julie possessed a rare combination of creativity, confidence, and determination, pursuing each new venture with energy and conviction throughout her life.

Julie contributed her talents to Dentists’ Dental Service, the family dental laboratory founded by her father in Davenport, Iowa. She was active in marketing and frequently spoke at dental conventions, sharing her knowledge and experience with audiences throughout her career. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to own a candle business and later establish a cosmetics company where she developed and manufactured her own products. Julie was also a published author, releasing her book, Wisdom or War, in 2009.

A gifted vocalist and self-taught pianist, Julie’s interests spanned communications, marketing, graphic design, music, and education. She approached both her professional and personal pursuits with passion and determination.

Julie was memorable in all the best ways. She was never one to blend into the background. Confident, capable, and independent, she seemed to move through life on her own terms. Family members still laugh about her remarkable ability to merge onto the interstate while flawlessly applying lipstick, a small but fitting example of the poise and determination that defined her.

An avid animal lover, Julie knew many of the neighborhood dogs by name and made friends with nearly everyone she encountered. Her warmth extended not only to animals, but also to the many people whose lives she touched through friendship, music, and conversation. She shared her love of music with her niece and nephew, introducing them to artists and songs they continue to enjoy today.

Julie welcomed Bryce into the family with the same warmth and enthusiasm she extended to so many others, quickly making him feel like one of her own.

Julie is survived by her mother, Marsha Hollingsworth; her sister-in-law, Lisa Hollingsworth; her niece, Leeanne Brien and husband Bryce Brien; her nephew, Fred Hollingsworth; and many dear friends and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Hollingsworth, and her brother, Brian Frederick Hollingsworth.

She will be remembered for her talent, determination, creativity, kindness, and the unmistakable spirit that made her uniquely Julie.
