Karen was born in Indiana on May 18, 1958.
Karen spent many years as a resident of Palm Beach, Florida, where she built a successful home cleaning business and became well-known in the community, particularly among affluent clients. Her work allowed her to travel across the United States and internationally, forming lasting relationships with her customers.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, which devastated her home and business, Karen’s life took a turn. Rather than give up, she displayed incredible resilience and embarked on a new path. She moved to Iowa and pursued a career as a long-haul truck driver, a role she enjoyed, particularly in transporting and handling heavy equipment. Her customers were often surprised to see her skillfully operating large machinery.
At the age of 62, after bravely battling cancer, Karen retired and made her home at 3264 Palmer Hill Apt 114, Bettendorf, IA. In her retirement, she found joy in coking and socializing with friends. She was known for her love of preparing large meals, especially for those around her. Karen was always ready to share her delicious Florida Southern cooking, and she never cooked for just one- it was always enough to feed a crowd.
Karen is survived by her two children and their families, as well as her dear friend, Jose Valdez, and his family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, particularly those who were fortunate enough to enjoy her cooking and her warm, generous spirit.
