

Karol “Kelly” Carter, 60, of Blue Grass, died Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 10: 00 am at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Friday, from 4-8 pm at the mortuary. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery. Kelly was born January 6, 1951 in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Roy and Martha Bruns. She graduated from cosmetology school and went to work at several area salons including Lion’s Mane and Lorma’s. She taught for the cosmetology profession and was working towards her Associate’s Degree in Construction Management at Scott Community College. She was united in marriage to Robert Carter in 1975 in Davenport. Together with her husband, Kelly owned and managed Bob Carter Excavating, Inc in Blue Grass for over thirty years. She was a giving person who volunteered her time to help others and put their needs ahead of her own. She had a great sense of humor and a love for fun. She enjoyed spending time on her farm and evening “gator” rides. Kelly will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Bob, daughter, Tanna (Jesse) Leonard, Buffalo, IA; step-son, Martin Carter, Galesburg, IL; grandchildren: Jessica Lyons, McKinzie Carter, Sean Prunchak, Tyler Carter, Kyle Williams and Jaiden, Jonathan and Jesse Jr. Leonard and many special friends.
Her parents and a step-son, Scott Carter (2006) preceded her in death.
