Kenneth G. Shaner, 72, of Moline, Illinois, formerly of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, July 22, 2023 after his challenging struggle with Parkinson’s disease at the Genesis Medical Center in Silvis, IL.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Monday, July 31, 2023 at the Runge Mortuary with a Visitation one hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest in Oakdale Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made in his name to the Parkinson’s Foundation or the Quad City Animal Welfare Center in Milan, IL.
He was born a son of Kenneth and Roberta (Sweeney) Shaner on July 4, 1951 in Davenport, IA. He graduated from Bettendorf High School and went onto graduate from the Scott Community College HVAC program. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1970. He owned and operated a home appliance repair business for 43 years, where he met and made many friends throughout his years running his business. Ken especially enjoyed the company of his good friend Mark.
Ken was an avid model train hobbyist and collector, as well as a big Iowa Hawkeyes fan. He enjoyed watching tv, especially Star Trek, which stemmed from his fascination and knowledge of space and he also enjoyed listening to music and had a great love for animals.

He is survived by his sister, Jan (Stan) Scharff; nephew, Jake (Elissa) Scharff; great-nieces, Elaina and Addisyn Scharff; and cousins, Denise Walsh, Patty Smith, and Mike Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
