Visitation will be held Monday, January 4, 2021 at the Runge Mortuary from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Due to Covid restrictions, a private graveside service will be held at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Kenny was born on September 18, 1956 in Iowa City, Iowa, to Claus and Delores (Simpson) Martens. He spent 8 years serving his country in the United States Army. On June 3, 1978, he was united in marriage to Debra Gordon and they went on to enjoy 42 years together.
Kenny loved music, cartoons, funniest home videos, feeding squirrels, and spending time with family. Kenny and Debra shared a love of dogs. Throughout the years they raised several together but their boxer, Angel, held a special place in Kenny’s heart.
Those left to cherish Kenny’s memory include his wife, Debra Martens; sisters, Vickie (Greg) Hoy and Jody Martens; brother, Pete Martens; step-mother, Joyce Martens; brother-in-law, Dennis (Sue) Gordon; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Tommy Martens and Billy Martens.
