Kristofer “Kris” Lars Schantz, 44, of Davenport, passed away unexpectedly at Genesis East Medical Center. Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Weerts Funeral Home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.weertsfh.com
Kris was born on May 17, 1977 in Davenport to Dean and Regena (Trant) Schantz. He was a graduate of Davenport Central High School. Kris went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Iowa. He was employed at the Guitar Center as the operations manager.
Kris enjoyed a love of music, with blues being his favorite genre. He also loved photography, learning about the history of guitars; going as far as learning to make his own. Kris was a planner and a dreamer. He loved to plan trips and vacations, traveling across the country. Kris was a serious collector of skateboard decks.
Kris is survived by his parents; siblings, Katherine (John) Peragine, and Kerry (Brian)Schantz- Held; nephews and nieces, Max Peragine, Ellamina Held, Calla Held, Loreena Peragine and Gabe Peragine; Aunts and Uncles, John (Peggy) Schantz, Roger Schantz (Amy Campanile), Rita (Dave) Pearson and Patrick (Vicki) Trant.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
