

Lavina M. Ruhl, 81, of Bettendorf, passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 at the Kahl Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Monday, January 26, 2015 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Lavina was born June 18, 1933 in Dante, South Dakota, the daughter of Anton and Stella (Valenta) Koupal. On April 10, 1951 she married William M. Ruhl in Dante. Born and raised on the Koupal family farm, she and her husband farmed until 1960 when they moved to the Quad Cities. She retired from Oscar Mayer after thirty one years of service.
Lavina was devoted to her home and family. She loved gardening, canning, cooking and baking and had a talent for the same. Just ask anyone who had her duck and dumpling dinner! She had a passion for playing cards, games or the slot machines and always with a competitive flair. She enjoyed her crafts as well.
Survivors include her husband William and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Lambert, Nilus and Lyle.
