Lawrence "Larry" Hasson

Lawrence E. “Larry” Hasson, 75, of Bettendorf, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a brave, courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2016 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 11, 2016 at the mortuary. Larry was born on September 7, 1941 in Davenport, one of Eugene and Marie (Teel) Hasson’s ten children. He was united in marriage to Evelyn E. Williams on May 19, 1962 in Rock Island, IL. Larry was a very strong, hard-working man. He retired from Oscar Mayer in 1999 after working for 40 years. He later worked for River Bend Transit for 15 years and loved his “family” there and those who he helped. Along with loving his family, Larry enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, bowling and playing in his golf league. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Bears, Cubs and Hawkeyes. He loved to watch his grandchildren play sports, too, and was very involved with them and they lovingly called him “Papa”. He previously coached Bettendorf Youth Baseball and was a former Cub Scout Master. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; children, Wendy (Eric) Syverud, Riverdale, IA, Ron (Lynda) Hasson, Davenport, and Deanna (Dan) Solis, Eldridge; grandchildren Jacob Hasson, John Syverud, Alex Syverud, Nicolas Hasson, Max Solis, Olivia Syverud, Sophie Solis and Julia Solis; step grandchildren, Ryan Jewel, Sarah Jewel and Justin Jewel; siblings, Barbara (Lyle) Foster, Janet (Rich) Petersen, Butch (Diane) Hasson, Linda Hill, Pam (Don) Mortenson, Cindy (Steve) Hill and Phyllis (Steve) Huber.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Mary Brown and Tom Hasson.
