

Lester E. Arp, 90, formerly of Davenport passed away Monday July 9th, 2012 in Mesa Arizona. Funeral service will be held 4:00 PM Monday July 16th at Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be two hours prior to service at Runge Mortuary. Burial will take place at Davenport Memorial Park. Lester was born on his family farm on May 18th, 1922 in Maysville, IA, the son of Arnold and Mabel (Roehlk) Arp. He was united in marriage to Edith Bohnsack in December 10, 1949. Lester farmed in Sunbury Iowa for many years. He relocated to Davenport becoming a real estate agent. Lester was an avid golfer, a snow skier, and a talented and popular ballroom dancer. Lester lived to watch his Chicago Cubs, Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears, and Chicago Bulls, whenever they were playing a game. He is survived by: two sons Kerwin Arp, Wilton, IA, and Kennan Arp, Collins, IA; daughter Karene (Warren) Nagel, Milan IL; three sisters Lenora (Wayne) Paulsen, Durant, IA, Phyllis (Wally) Miller, Davenport, IA, and Shirley (Dick) Fidlar, Cedar Rapids, IA; and granddaughter Kelsey Nagel and her fiancé Adam Overberg, Chicago, IL. Lester was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jean Rock, and his special friend Joy Van Derryt whom gave him so much “Joy” in his life.
