Lester Boyd Simpson

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Runge Mortuary. Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 22, 2022 at 12:00 P.M. at the Runge Mortuary. He was born September 7, 1940 in Clayton, Illinois to Russell and Elva (Wear) Simpson. He was the co-owner and operator of L&L Guttering with his brother- in-law, Lyle Felton. He was devoted to his Christian faith and a member of the First Baptist Church in Davenport. He was a big fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children, Debra (Bob) Bushek, Lori (Scott) Newberry, and Jeffrey “Jael” Simpson; former wife, Beverly Perry; sisters, Nina Wiegand and Zelma Hall; sister-in-law, Valerie (Lyle) Felton; grandchildren, Carissa, Tiffiny, Heather, Sara, Jered, Jessica, and Christopher; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Vernon, Maymie, Melvin, Russell, Geneva, Juanita, and Chester; and friend of 72 years, Robert Kent.

Lester lives on in the living as he was an organ donor where his tissue will assist burn victims and will be used in HIV Research.
