Lillian Francis Leonard

Lillian Francis Leonard, 92, of Davenport, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014 in Davenport. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 2:30 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.

Lillian was born March 25, 1922 in Volga City, Iowa, the daughter of Willis James and Golda Marguerite (Stewart Tracy) Rowell.

She was united in marriage to Ellis E. Leonard on December 27, 1938 in Muscatine, IA; he preceded her in death on January 6, 2004.

She was a very active member at Grace United Methodist Church in Davenport where she participated in the women’s circle and also volunteered for many activities including baking pies for fairs.

First and foremost, she was a devoted mother, having raised five children. She would send cards for every holiday to her family members.

After raising her children, Lillian worked for the Davenport School District as a cook at Williams Junior High School and later did custodial work.

Those celebrating his life include her children: Ellis J. (JoAnn) Leonard, Davenport; Lyle E. (Bonnie) Leonard and Ricky (Terre) Leonard, both of Davenport; Laurie J. Leonard, Alexandria, VA and Lisa A. Leonard, Davenport; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, one great-great grandson; sister, Dorothy Benjamin, Rock Island, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, twin sons, Roger and Ronald and a grandson, Sean Leonard.
