Linda Kay Pierce

Bettendorf, IA Funeral services for Linda Kay Pierce, 54, of Bettendorf, will be held at 10:00 AM. on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel in Davenport. Burial will follow at Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Mrs.Pierce died on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at Trinity Medical Center in Rock Island following a fierce battle with leukemia.Linda was born on May 15, 1956 in Iowa City, IA, the daughter of Farrel and Mary (Hill) Whittington. She married Steven Pierce on May 22, 1973, in New London, MO. Linda was employed for 22 years by M.A. Ford in Davenport. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and had a special love for her dog, Duke. Linda was an excellent baker who enjoyed gifting her creations to others, especially at Christmas. She collected unusual coffee mugs from around the world. Survivors include her devoted husband, Steven; her daughter and son-in-law: Christie and Dr. Joel McClurg and three grandsons: Alexander, (born May 21, 2010), Duncan and Joel, all of Jacksonville, NC; her son Craig of Sebastian, FL; her mother, Mary La Rose of Davenport; four sisters: Nancy Hickle of Elkhart, IN; Donna (Charles) Metzger of Bettendorf; Sheryl (Randy) Allen and Cynthia Stineman of Davenport; two brothers: Dennis (Jan) Whittington and Jeffrey Whittington, of Davenport; her mother-in-law, Lois Gaghagen of Bettendorf; and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her father, a brother Stephen, and a sister Judith.The family thanks the dedicated and caring staff at Trinity Medical Center’s West Campus and Dr. Constantinou and his staff for the loving care they bestowed on Linda.
