Lloyd H Schellhorn Jr.

Lloyd H. Schellhorn, Jr., 88, of Davenport, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Davenport after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, October 19, 2012 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 8:30 until service time at the mortuary. Burial will be at National Cemetery in Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Nursing Center or Heartland Hospice. Lloyd was born June 9, 1924 in Davenport, IA, the son of Lloyd and Marie (Ovens) Schellhorn, Sr. He married Helene Bolton on September 5, 1948 in Davenport.

He worked for the United States Postal Service for 36 years retiring in 1984. Lloyd had a sweet personality and gentle manner and was devoted to his family and his dog, “Snickers”. He was well known for entertaining people with his jokes.

Those celebrating his life include his wife of 64 years, Helene; children: Vicki (Dan) Collier, Atlanta, GA; Charles Schellhorn, Anchorage, AK; Jeffrey Schellhorn, Davenport, and Barbra Schellhorn-DeVault, Erie, IL; sisters, Lori Ritchie, Goleta, CA and Betty Whitaker, Moline, IL; and grandchildren: Alexandra, Wil, Nick, Cory and Steven.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles Schellhorn.
