Lola gained eternal life where she is completely healed and perfect in Him. Services will be Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 12 pm at The Runge Mortuary Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Her final resting place will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may go to the American Cancer Society or to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Lola was born on May 16, 1925in Van Buren County, IA, the youngest of seven children born to Daniel and Emma Hull. She married Alan “Sonny” Dittmer on August 19, 1944. He preceded her in death on January 7, 2002.
She worked at Bell Blind Company for 17 years and then was a faithful employee at Peterson Harned Von Maur for the next 15 years. She retired in 1982 to enjoy some of her life’s passions, such as traveling with her husband and doing crafts.
She also liked genealogy, getting together with family, having lunches with friends, and most of all, shopping. Lola was a huge sports fan and especially loved watching the N.B.A. and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeye Basketball team. She was a member of Bettendorf Christian Church where she belonged to the wonderful Care & Share women’s ministry group. She also was a member of the Plus 60 Club.
Those left to honor her memory include her son, Larry, Ft Lauderdale, FL; and many other extended family members. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
Lola lived her life to the fullest with her favorite saying, “One Day at a Time.” The world has lost a very caring, giving woman who has loved and was loved by everyone. She will be greatly missed.
