Loris Jean Resnick was born on April 16, 1935 in Elgin, IL to Verald & Nellie Beard. She passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025 at the age of 90. She attended high school in Davenport and worked for a short while at Fidlar & Chambers Printing Company, where she met the love of her life, Richard Resnick. They married and Loris became a stay at home mom after having 4 daughters. She was a devoted mother to her girls and attended all their activities. She was a scorekeeper for her daughters’ softball games, as well as her husband’s softball games. With 4 girls, she was busy attending gymnastics, dance lessons and shows, along with all the sports activities the girls were involved in.
When her daughters got married, they added 7 grandsons and she enjoyed attending as many of their activities and sports as she could, as she was devoted to her family. She considered her 7 grandsons her ‘lucky charms’. Those grandsons provided her with 10 great-grandchildren, whom she loved and enjoyed.
Loris also enjoyed playing bridge with two bridge groups and she also bowled for many years along with her husband. She was a member of the YMCA and attended the Silver Sneakers class for several years.
She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and, in her earlier years, she volunteered in the office. She was also a greeter and usher at the church. She spent the last 3 years of her life at Senior Star Independent & Assisted Living.
Loris is survived by her 4 daughters; Linda (John) Maledy of Salem, MO, Barb (Craig) Peekenschneider of Davenport, IA, Vicki Alderson of Davenport, IA, & Deb (Tom) Kinsey of Urbana, IA; 7 grandsons, David (Amy) Maledy, Brad (Marcy) Peekenschneider, Kevin Maledy, Garrett (Danielle) Alderson, Eric (Jill) Peekenschneider, Brandon Kinsey, & Alex Kinsey; 10 great-grandchildren, Eddie, Lincoln, Violet, Carter, Phoebe, Zoey, Rayna, Eve, Ethan, & Theo; 1 brother, Gary Beard; 2 sisters-in-law, Joan Marie Resnick/Wessling (Frank) & Rosie Beard; 1 brother-in-law, Ed (Marj) Resnick; special friends, Ray & Alta Poe, and many nieces, nephews, and their families.
