Lorraine was born in Davenport to Harold and Arline Marti. She was a 1959 graduate of Davenport High School. In 1954, when she was a student at Smart Junior High, she met Chuck Andrews to whom she was married for 65 years.
Lorraine earned her teaching degree from Long Beach State and her Master’s degree from the University of Missouri. She taught for two years in California, after Chuck completed his service in the Air Force. They came home to Davenport to raise their family. Lorraine taught in Davenport schools, including Smart and Sudlow junior highs, for more than 30 years. She enjoyed that age group. She also taught for five years in St. Charles, Missouri.
Lorraine had many friends, and was a member of several social circles. She and Chuck participated for more than 20 years in a gourmet club. That was perfect for her because she was known for her love of food. When dining, everyone wanted to know what Lorraine thought of the food.
She also loved decorating the many (many!) houses she and Chuck owned over the years. Together, they enjoyed reading and traveling throughout the United States and abroad.
Lorraine is survived by her husband, Chuck Andrews; sons Scott (Cindy) of Davenport and Michael (Brenna) of Sunrise Beach, Mo.; grandchildren Emma, Peter, Allie, and Jack; and siblings James (Bev) Marti, Kathy Harvey, and David (Cheryl) Marti.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for August 15 from 4-7 p.m. at the Outing Club in Davenport.
Memorials may be made to the Davenport School Foundation’s Andrews Scholarship Fund or King’s Harvest Animal Shelter.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. Michael Porubcin and his staff at the Genesis Cancer Center, and to the caring staff at Clarissa Cook Hospice House.
