Marian “Betty” Buckmaster, 98 was welcomed into the arms of her Heavenly Father on December 13, 2016. The family will greet friends from 10:00 am until service time at the Mortuary. Interment will be private in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Marian Elizabeth Rudkin was born on June 17, 1918 in Fort Scott, KS, the daughter of Sam and Marian (Collins) Rudkin. On July 23, 1937, she married Kenneth L. Buckmaster. He preceded her in death in 1993. Betty took great joy in taking care of her family and household. She and her husband were active members of Community of Christ Church. Betty volunteered in various church ministries. In addition, she served as choir director for over twenty years. Betty’s grandchildren remember her for her unconditional love and how special she always made them feel. She was an amazing seamstress, and took great pleasure in clothing and blessing her family with her skills. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed canning food, a phenomenal cook and baker. She was ahead of her time with regular exercise with her own mini gym in her basement. She was a tennis enthusiast and loved playing the game as much as watching it. She was also passionate about music and delighted in playing both the piano and organ. She also enjoyed playing games such as Yahtzee and checkers, while sharing her homemade cookies or chocolates with her grandchildren. She will be missed very much. She is survived by her Grandchildren: Cherie’ (Paul) Hein of WI, Nichole Montgomery of IL, and Daniel (Tia) Buckmaster of CO, as well as nine great grandchildren: Paul, Cara, Kendall, Drake, Mason, Mackenzie, Brooke, Baylee, and Dayln; a brother, Bob Rudkin of KS and a sister Edith Prince of CO. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, David Buckmaster, three brothers, Glen, Don, and Earl Rudkin and a sister, Louise Sauvain. Memorials may be directed to Genesis Hospice.
