Mara was born on April 29, 1935 in Villa Hermosa, Mexico to Pedro Torres Enriquez and Rosa Aurora Rullan Mendez. Her and her son, Jim, moved to the US in 1973. From there, Mara moved to Tucson, AZ where she worked as a home health aide and eventually retired in 2008. Beyond work, she enjoyed cooking, watching classic movies, reading her bible, and spending time with her best friend, Judith Cole.
Mara moved to the Quad cities in 2009 when her first grandchild was born. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, always putting her family first. She loved to visit and cook special meals for her family. She always made time to watch her grandkids play and grow.
Mara was always happy to tell stories of her childhood in Mexico. She was very intelligent, speaking seven different languages. She was also very friendly; she was the stranger on the bus that would be calling you family by the end of the trip.
Those left to honor her memory include her son Jim and his wife, Judy Kooken, grandchildren Jimmy and Jayden; two nieces, Rosa Aurora and Maria Barbara, one brother Cesar Torres Rullan; and extended family in Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
