Marcia Kay Koehler, 83, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Genesis East in Davenport, IA. Visitation will be Thursday, September 22, 2022 from 4:00-7:00pm at Weerts Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Friday, September 23, 2022 at 11:00am at Weerts, with a visitation starting at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Edgewood Baptist Church or to Pregnancy Resources.
Marcia Kay Oliver was born March 9, 1939 to Leslie John Oliver and Gladys Elnora (Baughman) Oliver, both of Davenport, IA. She graduated from Davenport High School in 1957, where she was the Editor-In-Chief of the school newspaper, The Blackhawk. This publication received national honors during her senior year. Marcia attended Drake University in 1958 where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
Marcia married James Wade Koehler, her high school sweetheart, on August 10, 1958 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport, IA. They have three children: Timothy, Robin and Lesley.
In 1969, Jim and Marcia founded J.W. Koehler Electric, Inc. and worked closely together, along with their family, for more than 50 years. Marcia retired in 2020.
Marcia was a faithful member of the Edgewood Baptist Church in Rock Island, IL. She was instrumental in founding an extensive library, and she served in the nursery for many years. Marcia also served on the DHS class reunion committee, the most recent reunion being their 60th in 2017. Marcia enjoyed playing bridge with her lady friends, working on genealogy for both her family and Jim’s. She loved fishing in Wisconsin every year with her family, she played a mean marbles game and she made the best tacos.
Marcia is survived by her husband Jim; her sister Kathleen (Steve) Fredericksen; her children Timothy (Sara) Koehler, Robin (Jeff) Rollins and Lesley (Tim) Wolfe; grandchildren Kevin (Melissa) Koehler, Jeffrey (Amy) Koehler, Ashley (Isaac) Holowell, Max (Kanae) Rollins, Paige (Kyle) Rettig, Harrison Rollins, Blake (Payton) Wolfe, Bradley (Rebecca) Rollins, Wade (Kayla) Rollins, Taylor Trumbo; and 10 great grandchildren Olivia, Sophia, Elizabeth, Andrea, Miles, Marley, Dean, Oliver, Josie and Renn; and a special family Rocky & Laura Jones, Spencer, Rachel and Allison.
