

Funeral services for Margaret “Joann” Chandler, 76, of Davenport, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2013 at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel in Davenport. Burial will follow at Oakdale Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends at the mortuary on Thursday, November 14th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Mrs. Chandler died on Monday, November 11, 2013 at St. Mary’s Healthcare Center in Davenport following a short and courageous battle with cancer.Margaret Joann Kimzey was born on October 18, 1937 in New Virginia, IA, the daughter of Claude and Margaret (Shoup) Kimzey. After her graduation from high school she married Verle “Bud” Reed in 1956 in New Virginia. She later married Donald Chandler on March 10, 1977 in Davenport. Mrs. Chandler owned and operated the former Carters Restaurant in Rock Island for many years and also worked as a bartender and waitress at several other area restaurants and taps.Joann enjoyed Soduko and crossword puzzles, NASCAR racing, the Chicago Bears and Iowa Hawkeyes. She was also known to play poker, enjoy an occasional Bud Light, and loved spending time with her faithful dog Mickey.Surviving members of the family include – her Husband: Donald of Davenport; a Son: Mike (Jody) Reed of Davenport; a Step-son: Brian Chandler of Milan, IL; a Brother Jerry (Norma) Kimzey of Phoenix, AZ; 3 Grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 Sisters: Doris and Lois, and 3 Brothers: Claude “JR”, Ronald “Squirt”, and Albert “Jake”.Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
