

Margaret Elaine Pitt, 85, of Davenport, passed away, Friday, May 15, 2026, at Lutheran Living in Davenport. Per her family’s request, cremation rites will be provided and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials in her memory may be made to a favorite charity.
Elaine was born on September 23, 1940, in Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Edna (Orwig) Breon. She graduated from Nemaha High School.
She married Carroll “Bud” Lee Pitt on November 8, 1958, in Early, IA. He passed away on November 11, 2018. She worked at J&K Button Factory in Muscatine for several years and later, worked at JC Penney’s in
Muscatine as well, prior to her retirement.
In high school, Elaine developed a passion for basketball and started from eighth grade playing at the high school level. She continued that passion watching all levels of basketball and coached fifth grade basketball at Franklin Elementary School in Muscatine for a couple of years. She was a devoted mother and was very active in her daughters’ lives by serving as PTO president, helping with fundraisers and many more activities. She was an avid Hawkeye fan who also loved fishing and camping, especially at Lake Darling in Brighton, IA, with her husband Bud and together they would serve as hosts at area campgrounds.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Cindy (Randy) Skipton, Bettendorf, Carol (Dave) Birkhofer, Muscatine, and Carrie (Wade) Shipley, Davenport; grandchildren: Andrea (Ben) Porter, Kyle (Lindsay) Skipton, Cody (Sami) Birkhofer, Carter (Brooke) Shipley and Austin Shipley: great-grandchildren; Caleb, Dillon, Owen and Harper Porter; Sam and Sofia Skipton and Maddox and Eli Birkhofer; siblings: Dave Breon, Jim (Mary) Breon, Mike (Sheila) Breon and Rick (Peg) Breon along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Elaine was preceded in death by siblings, Darlene Hintch, Mary McGinnis, Ruthann Henrich and Gene Breon. May she rest in peace…
