Margie Rees

Margie Rees, 87, passed away on October 7, 2026 at Ridgecrest Village. A visitation will be held at Weerts Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2026. The following day, a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. at Christ Church, 2330 W 41st St, Davenport, IA. Margie will be laid to rest with a private service at Winfield Scott Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be left to Christ Church or United Marriage Encounter.

Margie was born on the family farm in Louisa County, Iowa, to Edith (Cannon) and Neil Kracaw. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1957 and the Burlington Hospital School of Nursing in 1960. She worked as a pediatric nurse before becoming a stay at home mom when she and her husband, Ron Rees, started their family.

Margie met Ron on a blind date, and they were married on November 7, 1975 in Burlington, Iowa. In addition to raising her own children, Margie helped babysit for other families in the neighborhood. She lovingly cared for children across multiple generations.

Margie was proud of her faith in Christ and was a longtime member of Christ Church. She was known for being generous, loving, compassionate, and forgiving. She valued her family, her faith, and the opportunity to care for others.

Those left to carry on her legacy include her beloved husband, Ron Rees; children, Stacey (Todd Chapman) Terry, Tim (Kim) Rees, and Angela (Andrew) Barger; grandchildren, Amber Hahn, Morgan Gengler, Aleah Rees, Micah Rees, Ellah Rees, and Ada Barger, and three great-grandchildren.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Donald and Richard Kracaw.
