Marianne was born December 11,1955, in Davenport, Iowa as one of five children to Robert and Clara (Martens) Sternberg. She graduated from Davenport West High School in 1974. Marianne married Brendan Sherman on April 11, 1987 in Galesburg, IL.
Marianne spent her professional career as a dedicated retail worker, first at Geifman Food Markets, followed by a long career at Hy-Vee Food Stores, retiring in October of 2018.
Marianne will be known for her loving, loyal personality. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading, cooking, and listening to live music. She loved being outdoors soaking in the sun. Marianne knew how to get a party started. Whether it was backyard Halloween parties with decorations and delicious food, or hitting the dance floor at a wedding or holiday party, she glowed with energy and light. We will miss her warm light dearly.
Surviving are her daughter Kelley (Andrew) Grevas of Coal Valley, IL; three step children, Cyndi, Beth, and Luke; her grandsons, Cameron and Connor; 8 step grandchildren; and two sisters, Jackie Rogers and Patsy (Tim) Mosier.
Along with her parents, Marianne was preceded in death by her husband Brendan; sister Lisa Walde; and brother Robert Sternberg.
A visitation will be held on Monday, September 21st, from 4-6pm followed by a memorial service at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, IA.
The family requests that memorials be made to Clarissa Cook Hospice House.
