She was the oldest of nine brothers and sisters. Her sisters: Philomene Rider, Catherine Childs and brother, JP Fromm, remain to honor her memory as do many nieces and nephews. Marie married Tony Loeffler in 1946 in St. Louis. Together they farmed his land near Flint Hill, MO; Jerry, Marie’s beloved son was born in 1951. Five years later, the family moved to a farm near Troy, MO where Jerry started school. Soon after, Tony developed cancer; he survived until 1962. Marie sold the farm and moved with Jerry into town. She worked at various jobs at the local churches and school cafeteria. She was always volunteering and donating her hand-made quilts and crocheted handwork. Jerry married Barbara Parton, still surviving, in Troy, MO. They had one daughter, Dawn Loeffler before his sudden death in 1982. Marie’s great grandchildren from Dawn’s first marriage, Eryka Ann-Paige and Kennedy Marie LaFontaine were the loves of Marie’s life and are also left to honor her memory as is Dawn’s son, Jaiden King Smith. In 1972, Marie married Peter Bugni, deceased, and moved to his home in Davenport. New to the area, she quickly made friends. She kept close ties with Peter’s family. She is survived by Bette Bugni, Sodus, NY and Don Bugni (Vicki Rallojay), Santa Cruz, CA; Pete’s grown children from his first marriage to Ethel (Bohm) Bugni, deceased, Marie’s beloved grandson, Christopher Bugni (Don/Vicki) also live in Santa Cruz. Bette often spent summers with her dad and Marie. Others surviving are her numerous friends and acquaintances. One in particular was a friend of her son, Jerry, Ray Mills. He was the best man for Jerry’s wedding. Marie called Ray her second son, and held him close in her heart. Another couple, Bea, deceased, and Gene Brannan were great friends of Marie and Pete and continued their friendship after Pete’s passing. Marie, a devout Catholic all her life, volunteered religiously. She loved quilting, embroidery, crocheting and making beautiful dolls she then donated or gave as gifts. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Jerry, three sisters and two brothers.
