Marilyn was born April 6, 1938, in Davenport, IA to Edgar & Olga (Moeller) Tetmeyer. She was the oldest of four siblings. Marilyn graduated from Davenport Central High School and attended Valparaiso College for a couple of years before beginning to work as a legal secretary. She enjoyed bowling and was an avid bowler as a young adult.
Marilyn was united in marriage to Ben Niedert, her husband of nearly 59 years, on December 22, 1967. They had two children: a daughter, Brenda, born in 1972, and son, Brian, born in 1973.
Her greatest pride was her family and she poured her time into being a housewife and stay at home mom for many years. You could most often find her in the kitchen, pouring her heart into cooking and baking and her family was blessed by her delicious creations. She had a little-known adventurous side as well which led to, at age 60, skydiving for the first time. In later years, she enjoyed traveling. Marilyn was an active lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Davenport. She was known to never miss a weekly church service for decades and made dear friends in her church community.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her father, Edgar, mother, Olga, and brother, Alan Tetmeyer.
She is survived by brothers Robert and Edwin Tetmeyer; husband, Ben Niedert; daughter, Brenda Niedert; son, Brian Niedert; and grandchildren, Elijah, Rylee, and Caleb.
The family will greet friends from 4:00pm to 6:00pm Friday, October 30, at The Runge Mortuary & Crematory, Davenport, IA.
