

Marjory (Marj) Traylor, of Davenport, Iowa, died October 14, 2021 at Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa. As she wished, her body has been donated to the University of Iowa Medical School. Also per Marj’s adamant wishes, a memorial service will not be held so that family and friends are not placed at risk due to the on-going pandemic. Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, Iowa, is handling her arrangements. Marj’s written instructions indicated that flowers or memorial donations are unnecessary. A tribute honoring Marj’s memory will be made at a later date.
Marjory was born at Traer, Iowa in 1929. She graduated high school at Fairbank, Iowa in 1946, and from Iowa State Teachers College in 1950 with a B.A. in business education.
In August 1952 she married Everett Traylor in the Methodist Church at Fairbank. Everett died in 2015.
Marjory taught in Iowa high schools at Central City, Argyle, and Colfax. She also worked in various secretarial positions and retired in 1988 from River Bend Transit in Davenport.
Since1965, Marj was active in the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Quad Cities.
Her primary interest was her family, followed by music, reading, sewing, and gardening.
Marj is survived by two sons, Michael Traylor of Davenport, and Kevin (Alice) Traylor of Rock Island, Illinois, two grandsons, Patrick (Emalie) Traylor of Denver, Colorado, and Garrett (Victoria) Traylor of Rock Island, one great grandson, Nicholas, brothers Paul (Carol) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Martin Wayne (Karen) of Waterloo, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews. Parents Clyde and Matilda, and brother, Melvin, predeceased Marjory. A sister-in-law Marlys, of Pasco, Washington survives.
