Mark was born was born October 19th, 1961 in Morning Sun, Iowa, to Joan (Bonar) Delzell-Bausch and Philip Delzell. He graduated from Morning Sun High School and the World Wide College of Auctioneering. Mark’s passion for the car industry began at a young age through his family’s dealership, Delzell Brothers. He explored auctioneering antiques, estates, and farms, but quickly found his calling with collector and classic cars. Mark retired in 2020, and he most recently worked at Manheim Auctions, Des Moines Auto Auction, Greater Rockford Auto Auction, and as the lead auctioneer for Mecum Auctions. Mark was immensely proud of and loved his three children, Ian, Lauren, and Matthew. His heart of gold shone through his work with Access Unlimited and serving on the Board of Directors for Curing Kids Cancer. Mark’s true passions in life were fly fishing and traveling. He took many fishing trips to Montana, and Belize, and especially enjoyed sharing these memories with his family and friends. Mark’s career afforded him travel across the United States, and he loved visiting cities in Florida, Texas, and California, among many others.
Mark was greeted in Heaven by his son, Ian Delzell, father, Philip Delzell, grandparents and family in-law. His daughter, Lauren Delzell, and son, Matthew Delzell, are left to honor his memory. He is survived by his mother, Joan (Bonar) Delzell-Bausch, brothers, Kirk Delzell, Monte (Becky) Delzell, and Kent (Sheila) Delzell, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, family in-law, and friends. Mark’s girlfriend, Heather Jacks, and Homer, his foster-turned-adopted cat will miss him greatly.
