Marla J. Dexter, 81, of Le Claire, Iowa passed away on February 22, 2024 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Weerts Funeral Home from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park. Marla was born in Peru, IL to Alfred and Lillian (Duffy) Dimmick on December 2, 1942. She graduated from Davenport High School in 1960. She was the wife of Dale L. Dexter, they united in marriage on June 13, 1964 sharing 57 years of marriage together. She worked at the Davenport Bank and the Arsenal before becoming a farmer’s wife.
Her kids kept her busy with their many activities, including all sorts of sports, choir, and of course 4-H. She was a major help with the 4-H Poultry Program at the Mississippi Valley Fair. She would make sure all the 4-H kids came first.
In her spare time Marla enjoyed playing a good game of tennis. She was an avid reader of Harlequin novels, a card shark of solitaire, and a major connoisseur of Diet Pepsi and dark chocolate. She had monthly lunches with the girls, nights of card club, and mahjong was enjoyed with good friends.
Marla is survived by her sister Sharon (Vern) Thobe; her children Chad (Joni) Dexter, Kye Dexter, Glenda (Neil) Wingler; grandchildren Allison (Kyle), Brynn, Carlyn, Draven; and great-granddaughter Ezra.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale, daughter Paula Joy, and her sister LeDean.
