

Marlene Rose “Granny” Doggett, 81, of Durant, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016 in Durant. A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 1 pm until 6 pm at The Gardens, 1301 W. 13th Street in Davenport. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Beacon of Hope Hospice, 1020 W. 35th St. in Davenport. Private inurnment will be at a later date in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Granny was born January 5, 1935 in Davenport; the daughter of Raymond Holst and Iola (Wampfler) Knutsen. She was formerly married to Harry Eugene Nelson of Eldridge. She later married Wesley Doggett of Pleasant Valley; they both preceded her in death.
She had worked for many restaurants in the area including: The Edgetowner, Sambo’s, Nino’s, Peppercorn’s, Miss Mamie’s and Holiday Inn. She retired from White Distribution and Supply in 2015.
Granny loved to shop and looked forward to her “Tuesdays with Marlene” at The Gardens in Davenport. She was a social butterfly who loved partying with her friends and family. Her greatest joy though was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Bruce (Robin) Nelson; Brad Nelson (Kendra Jeffries) and Brenda (Jay) Hamann, all of Eldridge and Brigitte White (Patrick Foley), Durant; her loving grandchildren: Sara (Matt) Hauser; Jason (Jesssica) Nelson; Kedren Nelson; Alex Nelson (Tori Cook); Grafton Nelson; Mylea Nelson (Nathan Jarrett); Lindsay Hamann; Eric Hamann (Lela Elkins); Cody Bullis (Kelsi Franzen) and Colt White (Victoria Jackson); her step grandchildren: Susan (Andy) Cripe; Brent (Liz) Tapper; Adam (Shannon) White and Jason (Alyssa) White; ten great grandchildren; 9 step great grandchildren; stepsister, Lois Nagle; stepbrother, Leroy Knutsen and a grandcat, Kieki.
Her father, mother, stepfather, William Knutsen, grandson, Jacob Nelson and a grandcat, Oreo preceded her in death.
Granny’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Beacon of Hope Hospice for the wonderful care shown to her and her family. Your kindness will never be forgotten!
