OBITUARY
Martha Jane Bleke
June 28, 1945 – December 24, 2020
Martha Jane Bleke, 75, of Davenport, IA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Thursday December 24, 2020, at Eve Assisted Living in Hinsdale.
A memorial service to honor her life will be held on Saturday, January 30th, at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Davenport, IA. Her final resting place will be in the Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery next to her husband, Bruce. Martha was born on June 28, 1945, in Fort Wayne, IN, the daughter of Leslie and Margaret (Seigel) Asher. Martha grew up in Marblehead, MA. Martha attended Valparaiso University and graduated with a BA in Education. She met her husband, Bruce, at Valparaiso and they were married in Schenectady, NY, on June 15, 1968. He preceded her in death in 2015.
Martha was an elementary school teacher, worked at JC Penney District Office, and Blackhawk Freight.
Her hobbies included practicing and teaching yoga, reading, and spending time with her 5 grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Laura (Robert) Kendall, Hinsdale, IL, and Sharon (Colby) DeGuevara, Highlands Ranch, CO; her sisters, Nancy (John) Groh, Scottsdale, AZ, and Carol McKee, Rio Vista, CA. Martha also had 5 grandchildren: Colin, Maddie, Molly, Kate and Abby.
