Marty was born August 30, 1951 to Dean and Lois (Milam) Hoyt in Webster City, Iowa. He attended the University of Iowa where he earned a degree in sciences. He spent many years working and traveling as an industrial salesman, though most recently used his knowledge as a maintenance mechanic of industrial equipment.
When not working, he preferred to spend nearly all of his time outdoors. He grew up working on his family farm, spent years refereeing his children’s soccer games, and most recently could be found doing yardwork or enjoying evenings outside on the porch.
He married Margaret (Peg) Hebert in 1978 and the couple had four children, Elijah, Gabriel, Carrie, and Tyler. He was a hard-working husband and father who spent years supporting his kids by driving to countless sport practices and tournaments, passing on his knowledge and life experiences through humorous stories, and driving his family crazy with his seemingly endless sarcasm and dry-witted jokes.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Steven Hoyt and Thomas Hoyt and his father, Dean Hoyt. He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Peg) Hoyt; children Elijah Hoyt and wife Mendy, Gabriel Hoyt and daughter Abigale, Carrie Hoyt, and Tyler Hoyt, mother Lois Hoyt, sister Cindy Peiffer and husband Duane and brothers David Hoyt and wife Renee, and Timothy Hoyt. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews and many good friends.
