Mary Kircher was born May 7, 1933, in Kansas to parents Fred and Theresa Kircher. Her family moved to Davenport in the early 40s, where she graduated from Davenport High School. She went on to do secretarial work at Davenport Bessler Automotive and Globe Machine, before becoming a homemaker. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, and her faith was very important to her.
She married Gayle M. Campbell on January 13, 1963, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Davenport. The two shared 35 loving years together, raising one son, before Gayle’s passing in 1998. They also owned and operated a horse stable, where they boarded horses, as well as rehabilitate injured racehorses. Mary’s greatest joy was her two-acre yard that she maintained so meticulously that it looked like a golf course. She tended her flowers into her 90s, using a modified stool to be able to pick weeds. If she wanted to do something, she was determined to do it, one way or another. That is exactly the kind of person Mary was.
She is survived by her son Scott (Lori) Campbell; granddaughter Madison (Jacob Ricke) Campbell; and brother Francis (Betty Ann) Kircher.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
A very special thank you to the staff at Senior Star Memory Care for their excellent care and love for Mary, as well as Unity Point Hospice.
