Mary Ellen Eddy

Services will be Saturday, July 11. 2026, at 11:00 am at New Life Baptist Church. Her final resting place will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery where a private service will be held. Memorials may be directed to New Life Baptist Church in Davenport.

Mary was born to George and Artie (DeWitt) McDonald in Lucas, IA on September 22, 1930. She married Vaughan S. Eddy on September 24, 1948. He preceded her in death.

She had a wonderful work ethic, working 2-3 jobs at the same time. She devoted 23 years to Bendix/Litton Corporation, retiring on March 29, 1996. She was a longtime and active member of New Life Baptist Church in Davenport, and you could find her in the kitchen cooking for all the church functions as well as helping clean the church to make it shine. Mary also loved playing cards, especially “Joker.” Her greatest joy, however, was spending quality time with her grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory include her son, Vaughan “Ed” (Alice) Eddy, Davenport; grandchildren: Chris (Ryanne) Eddy, Alissa (Duke) McCutcheon, Anne (Keith) Bell, Michele (Brian) Concannon and Jenny Lonergan; 11 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Graves, Apache Junction, AZ.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mary was preceded in death by daughters, Marilyn Eddy and Ruth Jackson, brothers, Marvin and Franklin “Wayne” McDonald and a sister, Olive Mae Harrison.
