

Mary E. Lange, 89, of Davenport, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2025, at Genesis East Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at St. John’s United Methodist Church, Davenport at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Weerts Funeral Home. A private burial will take place at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Mary was born on October 23, 1935 in Renwick, IA to Alfred and Alpha (Packard) Kleen. She was united in marriage to Donald Lange on August 19, 1956, in Renwick, IA. He preceded her in death on June 23, 2000. Mary was very involved in her community. She was an active member of St. John’s United Methodist Church and QC Walk to Emmaus. She was involved in the UMW, Volunteers in Missions, Questors Sunday School Class and was QCEC Lay Director for Walk 90. She served others in the community in many ways. She was a Befriender at Genesis West Hospital for several years. She was a past member of the Scott County 4-H Youth Committee and was a 4-H leader for many years. She worked for more than 30 years as a Paraeducator at Davenport West High School and retired in 2011. She was a standing board member for the Mississippi Valley Fair Board since 1988 and past president in 2008 and 2009
Mary was an accomplished seamstress and would crochet often in her free time. She frequently shared her skills and expertise in those areas with others. Mary always made sure everyone in the family was fully stocked with sewn potholders, table runners, clothing, crocheted kitchen scrubbies and personalized doilies.
Survivors include her children, Brad (Ann) Lange of Davenport, Jane Lange of Davenport, and Jill (Jon) Lafrenz of Eldridge; grandchildren, Andrew and Susan Lange, James Lange and Caylin Graham, Abbi Lafrenz and Justin Lafrenz and great grandchildren Blake and Cora Lange; a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Sylvia Kleen, a sister Lou Kelling, as well as many nieces and nephews,
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Ruth Ann Bruene.
