Matthew Hess

Matthew was born on July 10, 1961, in Davenport, Iowa to Bobby Hess and Madonna (Hannafan) Hess. He graduated from Davenport West High School in 1979 and moved on to St. Ambrose University, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science in 1984.

Matthew was a big Cubs Baseball fan and was ecstatic when they won the world series in 2016. His love of sport didn’t stop with baseball, Matthew also loved to train and run for marathons. He ran in the Quad City Bix 7 race, New York City Marathon, and ran in the Boston Marathon many times.

He loved to travel all around the world and when he wasn’t traveling, he loved to be surrounded by his family and his Cat named Buzz.

Those left to cherish his memory is his brother, Mark (Tia) Hess; his niece, Amanda (Timmy) Huggins; his nephew, Christopher Hess; his good friend Gary; and his three great nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents Bobby and Madonna Hess; brothers, Peter Hess, and Eric Hess.
