Maye L. Stoltenberg

Maye L. Stoltenberg, 95, of Davenport passed away Monday, March 22, 2010 at Bettendorf Healthcare Center, Bettendorf. A funeral mass will be held 10:00AM Thursday (3/25) at Holy Family Catholic Church Davenport. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7PM Wednesday at the Runge Mortuary. Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or the Bettendorf Healthcare Center. Maye was born august 30, 1914 in Walcott, IA to Albert & Violet (Preston) Dietz. She was united in marriage to Emory Stoltenberg on June 15, 1935 in St. Josephs Church Davenport, IA. He preceded her in death on September 10, 2000.

Maye had been a homemaker most of her life returning to work as Emory retired. She worked for 17 years at the former Marvin & Allen Hairdressers in Bettendorf before retiring in 1976. Maye was a very active member of Holy Family Catholic Church where she belonged to the Catholic Women’s League, Daughters of Isabel, and was a past president of the Alter & Rosary & the PTA. She was also the first treasurer of the Assumption High School Mothers Club.

Maye loved her family and was known for organizing family gatherings and cooking for everyone.

Survivors include son Kent Stoltenberg, Bettendorf; daughter Ruthann (Dennis) Boyd, Bettendorf; Grandchildren Terry (Annie) Stoltenberg, Las Vegas, NV, Kelly (Willie Mims), Iowa City, IA, Kevin (Jodi) Stoltenberg, Eldridge, IA, Linda (Ray) Burhan, Phenix City, AL, Kirk Stolenberg, Bettendorf, IA, Bradley (Trudy) Boyd, Bettendorf, IA, Bridget Carlson, Davenport, IA, Beckette (David) Hoover, Sam Ramon, CA; and great grandchildren Joshua (Deana), Ryan, Kathryn, Kelsey, Michael, Gwendolyn, Collin, Adeline, Audrey, and Eleanor.

Maye was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Floyd and Elmer, sister Helen, and daughter in law Joyce Stoltenberg.
