Melinda D. Edwards

Melinda D. Edwards 66, of Davenport, was taken too soon on Wednesday, August 5, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 9, 2015 in The Runge Mortuary Chapel. She was born on February 18, 1949 in Thomasville, GA., the daughter of Howard and Grace (Peacock) Dees. She was united in marriage to Don Edwards on June 9, 1986 in Davenport, IA. Melinda managed Claire’s Boutique for a time. She also managed a framing store prior to retiring from Genesis Medical Center after 15 years of service.

She enjoyed fishing, golfing, and spending time at their property in Lake Thunderhead, MO. She loved spending the last three winters in Mesa, AZ., where she hoped she and her husband would retire. Melinda is survived by her loving husband Don; daughters: Sabrina Gomez, Killen, TX., Christy M. Jeffries, San Lorenzo, CA.; mother and step-father Grace and Troy Smith, Decatur, AL.; brother Ronald Dees, North Agusta, SC.; sister’s, Susan Tidwell and Rita Weeks both from Decatur, AL; and loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her father, Howard, of whom she adored.
