Melvin was born November 9, 1959 in Oxford, MS to James Kimmons and Mary Campbell. He had been employed at the Rhythm City Casino for the last 21 years.
Melvin attended Sudlow Jr. High in Davenport, IA. He loved sports and was on the football and track team at Sudlow. Melvin had the funniest run a person has ever seen. He was bow-legged and ran with his chin touching his neck. He was very good in sports and everyone knew when he had the ball because of his funny run. Melvin was an avid football fan following both the Steelers and the Redskins. He loved doing crossword puzzles, watching and collecting movies, and going to BINGO with his mom. Melvin was also known to be a big jokester who loved laugh and make others laugh as well. Sometimes it was hard to tell when he was on a serious note because of his sense of humor. He loved joking, laughing, and playing games. As a grown man, not much of that character changed.
Melvin had six daughters, of course he wanted a son, but it didn’t happen. However, he had 5 grandsons that knew and loved him very much. It’s hard that they won’t get to experience the magnitude of his humor like everyone else. He was a great father and every one of his daughters have a part of his character and looks. He is gone too soon, but never to be forgotten!
