Merle Emil Doerscher, 70, of Davenport, Iowa died Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Davenport, Iowa due to complications following kidney failure. Private services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Davenport. Online condolences may be expressed at www.therungemortuary.com. Merle was born September 25, 1945 in Davenport, Iowa the son of Ben L. and Norma G. (Bucks) Doerscher. Merle was a lifelong resident in Scott County and farmed the family farm. He graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1963. He served honorably in the US. Army, doing a tour of duty in Vietnam from 1966-1967. Merle is preceded in death by his parents (Ben - 1992, Norma - 1995) and sister Myra (2014). He is survived by brother in law, Charles Watkins, a nephew, Kevin Watkins and two nieces, Karen Watkins and Alane Watkins.
