A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 2pm at The Runge Mortuary & Crematory. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. His final resting place will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests everyone to wear casual clothing. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born April 5, 1936 in Dayton, OH. Mike married the love of his life, Emma VerHeecke on June 12, 1965 in Davenport. Together they shared 54 years of love and happiness. To this union their only daughter, Kimberly was born.
Mike was a diesel mechanic all his life. He worked for the Davenport Rock Island Northwestern Railroad as a head foreman. Later, he worked for Eagle Foods, Inc. in Milan as a lead diesel mechanic in the garage until his retirement in 2002.
Mike’s number one priority was his family, always providing and protecting them no matter what. He cherished every moment spent with them and always loved creating new memories with them. He enjoyed camping, stock car racing and spending time at home.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beautiful wife, Emma, daughter, Kimberly Haddix, granddaughter, Ashley Haddix, grandson, Brandon Hubbard (fiance Jackie), 2 great-granddaughters: Heaven Marie and Nova Rain, sister-in-law, Ilene Hamer, brother-in-law, Richard VerHeecke and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Janet Marie Loveall, father-in-law, Charles VerHeecke, mother-in-law, Marie VerHeecke and his parents.
