

A private memorial service to Celebrate the Life of Michael J. Halfman, 60, of Bettendorf, was held on December 27, 2011. Inurnment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Davenport. Mr. Halfman passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at his residence. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service assisted the family with arrangements.Michael John Halfman was born in Davenport, the son of Richard and Bernitta (Elvidge) Halfman. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement from St. Ambrose University. In 1977, he married Patricia “Patti” Miller in Davenport. They later divorced. Prior to retiring in 2006, Mike worked as a police officer for the Bettendorf Police Department and rose to the rank of Lieutenant. He was a member of the Iowa State Police Association and the Iowa Association of Chiefs of Police & Peace Officers. Mike loved spending time with his family and was known for being an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.He is survived by a daughter, Katie Halfman of Bettendorf; a son, Daniel Halfman of Bettendorf; two sisters, Beth (Mike Dahms) Halfman of Davenport and Susan Bonds of Arkansas; a brother, Rick (Marguerite Kauffman) Halfman of Davenport; a grandson, Zachary DeGeeter of Bettendorf; and many extended family members and friends.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Janis,a niece, Jennifer, and a nephew, Michael.Memorials may be directed to the family, to be put towards a fund for Mike’s grandson, Zachary.
