Michael D. Oostendorp

Michael D. Oostendorp, 76, of Blue Grass, Iowa passed away, Monday, January 6, 2014 at home. Memorial services will be held at Koning Chapel at Ridgecrest on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 1:00 pm. Michael was born March 3, 1937 in Davenport, the son of Daryl and Gladys (Woodal) Oostendorp. He served seven years in the US Air Force, serving in Korea and having worked at NORAD Air Force Base.

He was united in marriage to Patricia Bushnell on March 18, 1960 in Colorado. He was employed as a chemical analyst for Alcoa for thirty years, retiring in 1996. He loved the Iowa Hawkeyes and his cats, but, most of all, his family.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; son, John, daughter, Kimberly (Lonnie) Erbst; grandsons, Dustin, Tyler (Leah) and Trent Oostendorp and Ethan Erbst; great grandsons: Seth and Max Oostendorp; brother, Terry (Dorothy) Oostendorp; sisters: Kathleen (Mike) Graves and Sue (Jim) Long and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie, grandson, Thomas, sister, Kris Simmons; his parents and four nieces and two nephews.
