Mildred E. Callahan

Mildred E. Callahan, 94, of Davenport, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Home in Davenport. Funeral services will be Friday, July 8, 2011 at 1:00 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross or Scott County Humane Society. Mildred was born February 15, 1917 in Harrington, KS, the daughter of Irvin and Ida (Cooper) Martin.

She was united in marriage to Clio Callahan on August 8, 1936 in Davenport; he preceded her in death on June 6, 1983. Mildred provided child care for many years prior to her retirement. She was a dog lover and loved to travel. She was a member of Newcomb Presbyterian Church and a past member of Northern Star.

Those left to honor her memory include grandsons: Matt (Kelly) Nickles, Mark (Amanda) Nickles and Zachary Nickles; son in law, Rick (Susan) Nickles, Peoria, IL; all of the Peoria, IL area; great granddaughters: Kaitlynne and Breyanne; “daughter” Patty Hodges, Davenport and extended family, John and Kenneth Dau and Beverly Thoene.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Marsha Nickles (1992), sister, Cleo Staatz and a brother, Lawrence Martin.
