

Milissa “Missy” R. Harris, 51, of Moline. Passed away at her home on Monday, September 8, 2025. Per her wishes she will be cremated. A celebration of life visitation will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Cunnick Collins Life Celebration Center, located at 1200 E. 39th Street, Davenport. Missy was born on January 24, 1974 in Davenport, IA to Gary and Barbara Vandeveire(Peterson) Versluys. Missy graduated from Rock Island High school in 1992. Married to Shaun D. Harris in 2012. Missy earned her Associates Degree in Accounting and Business from Rasmussen Business College in St. Cloud Minnesota. Missy began her federal service career on April 13, 2020, as an HR Specialist with the Civilian Human Resources Agency (CHRA), where she proudly supported the Defense Health Agency. She took great pride in helping shape the workforce that cares for our military community, approaching her role with purpose, compassion, and unwavering dedication.
Colleagues often described Missy as someone with a remarkable gift for making others feel welcome and valued. She was known for her kindness, humor, and genuine care for those around her. Her ability to connect with people left a lasting impact on both her coworkers and the healthcare workforce she helped build. Missy will be remembered not only for the work she did, but for the kindness, integrity, and heart with which she did it.
Missy was a loving caring mother, aunt, sister, and friend to anyone who ever had the pleasure of meeting her. Her nurturing spirit, unwavering support, and boundless love will forever live on in everyone's heart. Missy had and exceptional ability to make everyone feel heard and valued. Her home was always a place of warmth and an open door for friends and family alike, her presence a source of comfort and strength for all who knew her. Her grandchildren enjoyed many fun weekends watching movies, making crafts, playing games, cooking and baking, and just being silly with their "MeMaw". Missy’s hobbies included spending time with her grandkids and daughters, coloring, diamond art, gardening, and enjoying a audiobook.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Curstin Howard (fiancé Asa Smith), Josephine Samolitis (Kory Fitzgerald); grandchildren, Trinity Howard, Miles Fitzgerald, Kamden Tallman, Brantley Petersen, Maddux Petersen, Lennox Irby, Charleigh Mickley, Briggs Mickey and John Fitzgerald; mother Barbara (Brad) Vandeveire; siblings Michelle Edmund, Gary “Bo” Versluys Jr., and Milinda Halsall, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
