

Milo C. Meier, 90, of Davenport passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport. Following cremation, a memorial mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church at 10:30 am on Thursday, October 27, 2011. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Inurnment will be at Rock Island National Cemetery at a later date. Mr. Meier was born November 5, 1920 in Savanna, Illinois, the son of Frank and Ruby Meier. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Seventh Armored Division, and was a recipient of the Bronze Star.
He married Jeanne Biesmann in 1951. She preceded him in death in 1969. He later married Cathie Johnson in 1974. She passed away in 1998.
He retired in 1974 after thirty four years of service at the Savanna Army Depot and Rock Island Arsenal.
His memberships included Holy Family Catholic Church and NARFE and he was a lifetime member of AMVETS.
Survivors include his children: Mary Jo Meier of Rock Island, Illinois, Peggy (Larry J.) Busch of Davenport, and Nancy (Michael) Buchieri of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren Justin Holliday of Rock Island and Joseph Buchieri of Atlanta.
In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter Nicole Buchieri, sister Cecelia Richmond, and a niece, Fran Rogers.
