Miriam Jean Goldsberry

Miriam J. Goldsberry (Jean) of Silvis Illinois, formerly of Davenport Iowa, died on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 7:20am at New Perspective Senior Living. Per Jean’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded and no services will be held.

Jean was born May 26, 1925 in Wharton NJ to Elwin Williams and Miriam Ellen (Gamble) Williams. They moved to the Midwest in 1940 and she graduated from Alton High School, Alton, IL. They later moved to Burlington, IA, where she graduated from Burlington Community College.

Jean met Kenneth John Goldsberry and they married December 1, 1945. Jean was a caring person with an inquisitive mind. She loved nature, reading, swimming, sewing, car rides, travel and volunteering in addition to the time she spent with friends and family.

Jean was preceded in death by both parents, her husband, her daughter Donna Jean, her siblings (6 brothers and 1 sister) and 4 nephews.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Miriam Ellen and husband Robert Wisely, grandson Eric John Longenecker, son-in-law Charles Lehman, special friend Doug, extended family members and friends.

A special thank you to Compassus Hospice nurse Stephanie and the hospice team, all of whom provided excellent care and companionship. The family would also like to thank New Perspective nurses and staff that were involved with her daily care. All mentioned provided friendship, caring and were instrumental in giving her good quality of life.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Scott County in Jean’s name.
