I met Myla at Ridgecrest when both she and my mother, Marie Ferris, were residents of the Oakwood Assisted Living complex. They became fast friends. They also helped each other - Marie helped Myla when she couldn't see, and Myla helped Marie to hear! They were both transferred to the nursing care complex at about the same time, where their friendship continued, eating every meal together and sometimes just quietly sitting together in their rooms. Eventually those opportunities became fewer as their health deteriorated. This past spring I wheeled my mother down to Myla's room and witnessed them holding hands - they were so happy to have some time together. Marie passed away November 1, but I don't know if Myla had been informed. On Nov 10, at 2:00 pm, I stopped by Ridgecrest to visit Myla, and was so saddened to learn that she had passed away just two hours earlier. Once again, they are walking on a similar path. I am very happy that their friendship can now flourish in heaven without disability. Myla was a very kind-hearted lady. I dearly loved visiting with her. It's no surprise my mother enjoyed her and connected with her so easily. My condolences to you for your loss. A life well-lived, and now deserving peace and freedom from pain and discomfort. I will always remember her.
