Myrna was born to parents Merton Winchip and Vera (Tubbs) Winchip, 1 of 6 children. She graduated from Delmar High School and pursued an education in Business at the American Institute of Commerce. Her career spanned 42 years at Montgomery Elevator, now known as KONE Elevator, where she worked as an executive secretary.
On November 23, 1963, Myrna joined Robert "Bob" Rakocy in married union in Delmar, IA. The pair enjoyed over 62 years in each others' company.
Crafting was a significant part of Myrna's life, and she was quite talented with sewing, cross-stitching, and knitting. Her hobbies also included gardening, running, bicycling, and bowling with her husband on a league team. She was a member of the QC Bicycle Club and, in retirement, took pleasure in tandem bike trips with her husband, exploring wherever the wind took them. Myrna also cherished her weekly card-playing group.
Dedicated to her community, Myrna volunteered extensively at the Bettendorf Public Library, the Discovery Shop in Bettendorf, and Generations on Aging.
Among those left to cherish Myrna's life include her beloved husband, Bob; siblings, Jim (Linda) Winchip of IA, Carol Wiggins of FL, and Steve Winchip of FL, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Myrna was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Marvin and Butch Winchip.
