Nancy West

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 12 pm at the Runge Mortuary and Crematory. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Nancy will be laid to rest at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.rungemortuary.com

Nancy was born on February 28, 1947, in Centerville, Iowa to Francis and Harriet (Freeborn) West. At the age of three, she moved with her family to the Quad Cities and remained there for the rest of her life. Nancy was a 1967 graduate from Davenport Central High School. While never having children of her own, she was a mother to her many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and so many more. Nancy was everybody’s ‘Nanny.’ If Nanny was a part of your childhood, you were going to hear about the ‘busy bumblebee’ or her consistent use of the expression ‘by George.’ She was always there for everyone and more than willing to lend her help and lovable personality.

Nancy was an Elvis fanatic who loved all things purple, her jewelry, and vintage television. She took great joy in decorating her house to be one of the coziest homes for all her family to enjoy. Nancy’s life was marked by determination, resilience, kindness, and her playful nature. She never let anything get her down, demonstrating strength most never know.

Those left to cherish her memory include brother, Rex West Jr.; sisters, Claudia (Marty) Beale, Sherri (John) Helftner; 13 nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jack West; niece, Lisa Jackson and nephew, Marty Beale.
